As a regular visitor to Singapore, I have been "painfully" aware of this situation, BUT fortunately, I have been able to unlock all of my family's GSM phones including the AT&T ones that we use as prepaid phones in the US.

In Singapore, the Infocomm Development Authority prohibits locked phones from being sold in Singapore. My Singaporean friends and relatives always "laugh" at how "lame" our phones are in the US! That's about the ONLY reason why I would want an iPhone: so that my Singaporean friends and relatives would envy ME for a change!  The FCC really ought to do something about this!

We're staying 'close to home' today at Heartland Mall in Hougang where we went so that I could try the 'Miso Crunch' at KFC. Pretty disappointing so I don't think that the Colonel would be pleased.

I'm looking for a SingTel mobile dealer to get another prepaid SIM so that Tabby can call the States as a LOCAL call. We tried it earlier this morning when she called her classmate Vicky in Indy.
